- ARTEMIS second Call: more than EUR 210 Million for industrial research in Embedded Computing Systems

(24 March 2009)Only one year after its launch the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking (JU) has published its second Call for proposals. With EUR 105 million public funding from the European Commission and the participating Member States and at least a EUR 105 million contribution from industry and research organisations the Call should generate an activity of more than EUR 210 million. The ARTEMIS JU, a Europe-wide public-private research partnership, addresses embedded computer systems that - while running almost unnoticed by users - improve the performance of all kinds of machines: from cars, planes and phones, to factories, washing machines and televisions.

(Deadline: 07/05/2009) The purpose of this study is to identify the main actors in all sectors and the processes related to the training and dissemination of the new protocol IPv6 and provide mechanisms, incentives and best practices that can help in deploying this new technology efficiently and timely. The results of this study should provide clear recommendations that can be applied in training organisations, public and private, such as higher education and vocational training institutions. Based on the analysis of the study, concrete suggestions should be derived for actions at governmental level of the EU Member States. The study should build on expertise developed in previous research projects and support actions funded under the EC Framework Programmes to support IPv6.

The event will address the challenges of building the Future Internet, which will be based on mobile, wireless and fixed broadband communications infrastructures. The Scientific Programme covers topics such as Radio Access and Spectrum, Converged and Optical Networks, and Future Internet Technologies.
